ENCON employees across the country give their time and money to a number of charities. In Toronto, we support Sick Kids and the Food Bank; in Edmonton, we have adopted a child in Egypt through World Vision; and in Ottawa, we support OttawaReads, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre and the YMCA-YWCA Leadership and Summer Camps and Second Stage Housing program.
Since we began working with these organizations, our employees have become engaged in these very worthy causes through fundraising efforts and volunteerism. Here are a few of the ways we’re making a difference:
- We’ve organized food drives to benefit the Food Bank in Toronto.
- We’ve organized jeans days to support organizations across the country, including World Vision.
- We’ve painted the reception area, boardroom and counseling rooms at the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre.
- We’ve delivered and installed new and gently used furniture, purchased blinds and landscaped the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre’s front garden patio.
- We’ve sent two teens to the YMCA-YWCA leaders-in-training program and sent 10 needy children to residential summer camps.
- At Christmas, we filled gift bags with food and toiletries for youth at each of our chosen organizations in Ottawa and provided food vouchers for some of their families.
- A few of our talented employees have knitted scarves, mitts and toques to ward off the Ottawa winter chills.
