We are currently recruiting for a Claims Analyst in our Special Risks Department for a one year contract to work with adjusters, technical experts and legal counsel to develop and coordinate defense strategies to bring insurance claims to a prompt and final resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Review and assess new claims to determine coverage and take appropriate action
- Retain and instruct lawyers/adjusters when required
- Receive and review reports from service providers
- Determine liability, value of claim, service provider fees and sets reserves accordingly
- Coordinate and control progress of files including liaison with lawyers, adjusters, insurers and insureds
- Prepare and maintain reports and correspondence pertinent to ongoing operation
- Liaise with underwriting department with respect to claims
- Respond to brokers/insureds/insurers inquiries
- Report to insurers on large claims and presents files at semi-annual insurers meetings
- Prepare for and attends settlement conferences and mediations
- Conduct internal audits
- May be required to prepare and deliver presentations to insureds and brokers as well as “in-house” presentations/seminars
- May be required to write loss control bulletins and claims procedures discussion papers
- May be required to participate in loss control seminars and company events
- Some travel may be required
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Bilingualism is required
- Two to four years work experience and/or educational background in: legal, insurance, accounting, financial, economics, mathematics or medical field
- Effective problem solver and strong analytical skills in order to analyze problems and develop/implement effective solutions
- Exceptional customer service skills in order to build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients
- Service oriented professional with a positive attitude and a strong desire to succeed
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment
- High attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical abilities
- Sound judgment
- Strong decision making, organizational and negotiation skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong computer skills in MS Office
- Bilingualism is required
